We know they can make transformational change in their communities, so this isn’t just a thought exercise – we’ll bring business, academic, and social leaders from their communities to help them implement the solution they design."
Latina Leaders x Design® is a growing initiative envisioned by a coalition of Henry Ford Learning Institute, the Eva Longoria Foundation, and Momento Latino. In early 2022, Latina Leaders x Design® was named one of 34 selected projects to receive funds from the Google.org Impact Challenge for Women and Girls, and one of 6 U.S. projects selected for funding cohort out of nearly 8,000 applications globally.
"Over my past two years as a Latina Leader, I have learned about business, what it means to be a leader, how I can work in a group efficiently, and to be less shy when presenting and talking. The mentors are so understanding and kind people, so it’s very easy to learn and understand everything.”
Over the past 4 years, 206 young women, ages 15-19 have completed the L2xD Summer Program, with a minimum of 120 contact hours each.
Latina Leaders have collaborated to complete 43 community-connected tam projects.
151 community members from Denver, Detroit, and San Antonio have volunteered their time, offered their expertise, and shared their lived experiences.
Historical, systemic barriers prevent educational and economic equity for young Latinas.
Opportunity. Structured, immersive learning program within an intentional community that nurtures leadership, entrepreneur-ship, and multi-generational mentoring.
Young Latinas with knowledge, skills and confidence to achieve personal academic and life goals, and address challenges with creative thinking and problem-solving.
Independent young Latinas who pursue the life path of their choice, who live and thrive, and contribute meaningfully to their families and communities as a result.
Unity. A movement of confident, capable young Latinas who are changing their communities and the world for the greater good.
Brings expertise in developing and implementing immersive programs that provide deeper participant learning through culturally responsive principles, Design Thinking skills and mindsets, and effective instructional practices
Brings expertise in providing programming that helps Latinas succeed in school and business, and helps empower the Latino community
